Even faster builds, more accurate CPU metrics, custom DNS server
Jonas ScholzThis week we made builds noticeably faster, fixed up CPU metrics accuracy, added support for more Docker image registries, and rolled out our own DNS server.
80% Faster Build Compression
We rewrote the compression step in our build pipeline. On average it's now 80% faster, which shaves around 5 seconds off every deploy. You don't need to change anything, every push gets it automatically.
More Accurate CPU Metrics
CPU metrics for servers and services in the dashboard are now more accurate. The numbers now line up with what's actually running on your container, so you can trust them when deciding to scale up or debug a spike.
More Docker Image Registries
You can now deploy prebuilt Docker images from lscr.io (LinuxServer.io) and codeberg.org directly on Sliplane. Just paste the image reference when creating a service and we'll pull it. This is for prebuilt images, not repository sources.
Our Own DNS Server
We replaced Hetzner DNS with a DNS server we built ourselves. Propagation is now faster and a lot more consistent, no more waiting up to 90 minutes for a record to show up. Most changes are live within seconds.
If you want the full story on how and why we built it, check out How We Built Our Own DNS Server.
That's it for this week. As always, if you run into any issues or have feedback, hit us up via the chat widget or at support@sliplane.io.
See you next week,
Jonas
